Do you only want to watch the concerts?
NO TICKET NEEDED if you just want to watch any of the three FREE Marimbafest public concerts: the Artist Concert (Friday), the Grand Concert (Saturday) and the Gala Concert (Sunday). You don't need to register - just come!
Do you only want to watch certain classes?
If you're only interested in seeing one or two classes, or are on a budget, then our SINGLE ENTRY PASS is for you! All Marimbafest workshops can be observed passively by any non-participants for just $30 per person per workshop. You don't need to register for this option. Simply buy the SINGLE ENTRY PASS at the door of the workshop you wish to go to!
Are you only interested in the Marimba Competition?
If you just want to participate in our Open Marimba Competition and not attend any classes, our affordable COMPETITION ONLY PASS is for you! This lets you participate fully in the Competition, where you will perform solo and potentially win some prizes. You will also receive feedback on your performance from our judging panel to help you with your development as a player. Register below to sign up for the COMPETITION ONLY PASS!

Learn new things about marimba performance and composition by actively participating in all intensive masterclasses and workshops. Showcase your skills and potentially win prizes by participating in the Open Marimba Competition. Rehearse intensively with faculty and perform in public concerts alongside your fellow participants in the Marimbafest Festival Ensemble. Ivan Trevino is a Mexican-American composer, percussionist, teacher, and arts advocate. Recognized around the world for his contributions to percussion literature, Ivan’s music has been performed across five continents in 25 countries. His newly commissioned works include music for The Juilliard School, The San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and Grammy-winning quartet, Third Coast Percussion. He is a multi-winning recipient of the Percussive Arts Society's International Composition Contest, and in 2020, was the featured composer on NPR’s Performance Today. Ivan currently serves on faculty at University of Texas at Austin.Ivan is also known for his work as a drummer with Break of Reality, an international touring cello rock quartet and as a member of the ensemble, Ivan was selected as a music ambassador by the U.S. State Department. He previously served as co-director of the Eastman Percussion Festival at his alma mater, Eastman School of Music, and is an artist and clinician for Marimba One (Premier Artist), Innovative Percussion (Signature Artist), Black Swamp Percussion (Artist Endorser), Pearl's Malletstation, Meinl, and Zildjian Cymbals.

Kana Omori (大森香奈) is an international marimbist, percussionist as well as a composer from Japan. Kana has been awarded several prizes, including First Prize at the International Music Competition in Kobe, Japan in 2006 and First Prize and Absolute Prize at the International Percussion Competition in Italy in 2010. In 2011, she was awarded the Cultural Prize of the City of Kyoto. Kana has released seven albums of marimba music and many arrangements and compositions published by Edition Svitzer. Kana has performed and given recitals, master classes and clinics across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia and has served as jury for the final round of The Japan Classical Music Competition and Marimbafest since 2019. Kana is a Pearl/Adams artist, a Encore Mallets/Salyers Percussion Signature Artist with the Kana Omori mallet series, Aluphone, and Sabian Cymbals. Kana is a tourist ambassador in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, as well as a presenter of her radio program and is currently an associate professor of the Osaka College of Music.
EYO LI

Eyo Li (李伊翱) is a marching percussionist and educator based in Hong Kong.For over a decade, Eyo has been the director of the Pegasus Vanguard since its inception in 2010, a HK-based drumline ensemble which won the DCI Drumline Battle (International Division) in 2016, and performs to thousands and alongside big names in sell-out arenas on a weekly basis. Eyo is also the director of the Hong Kong Percussion Academy, an educational school located in the heart of Hong Kong. Eyo is a Promark by D'Addario and Evans Drumheads Artist.
MASTER CHRISTOPHER (he/him)

Christopher Thompson, otherwise known as 'Master Christopher', is a multidisciplined
performer-composer who merges contemporary percussion, classical music, and jazz, with rap. Chris is the founder and director of Motivational Arts, Performance, and Sound (M.A.P.S.), and inspires many through his multi-disciplinary performances, having performed at the 2022 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the Eurovision Song Contest in Germany, the John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues festival and more. Chris currently serves on the board of the Alliance of Black Orchestral Percussionists, is a member of the Percussive Arts Society New Music/Research committee, and is an artist for Marimba One and Black Swamp Percussion.

TIM WHITE OAM (he/him)

Tim White OAM is the Co-ordinator of Classical Music and Senior Lecturer in Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University, where he leads WAAPA's classical music and percussion programmes.Tim has over thirty years full-time experience as an orchestral and solo percussionist, including Principal Percussionist of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for 28 years, Principal Percussionist of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with all ten of Australia’s professional symphony and theatre orchestras. Tim joins the team in 2022-2023 as Artistic Advisor and is Principal Artistic Advisor for 2024.

Adam Tan (陳俊毅) is a percussionist, composer and educator from Perth (Boorloo), Australia. Known for being a content creator since 2016. Adam has performed and presented solo across the world, and his compositions are performed by thousands around the world annually. Adam is a Marimba One Premier Artist, Encore Mallets Signature Artist with the Adam Tan series of mallets, Salyers Percussion Concert Artist, Black Swamp Percussion Artist Endorser and Soundbrenner Artist. Adam is also the creator of 'THE TRAVELLER By Adam Tan', a mallet backpack designed in collaboration with HAOSEN Instruments in Taiwan, and is a course creator and instructor with online platform The Percussion Conservatory. Adam's compositions are published by Edition Svitzer. Adam has been Executive Director of Marimbafest Australia since its inception in 2018.

Matthew Lau is a renowned international soloist with a passion for commissioning new music from composers. Currently based in Boston, Matthew's performances have seen him present in Australia, Argentina, Korea, Japan, Russia, USA and more. Matthew continues to push the boundaries of contemporary percussion music and is an advocate for LGBTQIA+ representation. Matthew is a Marimba One Premier Artist, has a signature line of mallets with Encore Mallets/Salyers Percussi and endorses Black Swamp Percussion. Matthew is the co-founder of contemporary ensemble The Up:Strike Project.

Machi Ishida (石田真知) is a marimbist and percussionist based in Hiroshima, Japan.
Machi has experienced marimba since the age of 9, receiving 1st Prize, Audience Award and the Best Performance Award at the Stuttgart World Marimba Competition (2022), 4th Prize and Best Performance Award at the Belgium Universal Marimba Competition (2021), 2nd Prize at the Taiwan International Percussion Convention Competition (TIPCC) (2017), and the Espoir Award in the general duo category of the Osaka International Music Competition at the age of 12 (2005), having performed in Austria, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Mongolia, Taiwan and the United States. Machi is an Adams Percussion Artist (Netherlands) Kolberg Mallets Artist (Germany) and is a recording artist for Edition Svitzer and Svitzer Music (Denmark).

Rebecca Lloyd-Jones is a Lecturer at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University and the Artistic Director of Synergy Percussion. Praised as “captivating” (San Diego Union-Tribune), she has performed at major events such as the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, IMPULS (Graz), soundSCAPE (Italy) and held residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada. Rebecca has performed with the PARTCH ensemble, Red Fish Blue Fish and was an adjudicator for the IPEA International Percussion Competition in Hong Kong (2024), presented at Transplanted Roots Percussion Research Symposium 2017-2019 and served as the artistic producer for the 2022 symposium in San Diego, USA. As a composer, Rebecca’s works are released on labels including Populist (Los Angeles), New Focus Recordings, and MADE NOW MUSIC, and her pedagogical compositions have been published in the AMEB percussion syllabus. Rebecca is a Marimba One Education Artist.

Paul Tanner is a renowned Australian percussionist who has travelled across the world as a soloist, ensemble and orchestral musician. As Principal Percussionist of Perth Symphony Orchestra and former Principal Percussionist of West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Paul is now Chair of Percussion at the UWA Conservatorium of Music.
