Adrian Yuen has been playing percussion since year 4. He is currently a year 12 student at Carine Senior High School and studies with Adam Tan and Despina Prastides Brown. Adrian is a member of his school’s senior band, jazz band, orchestra and percussion ensemble, he has also performed with the Western Australian Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

Alice studied percussion with Ian Robbie at Rossmoyne Senior High School. She
has performed in various ensembles and concerts, as well as leading the percussion
ensemble, performing works arranged by her. Alice was a member of the WA
Philharmonic orchestra and is currently a member of the Sydney Youth Orchestra.
She is continuing her percussion journey at the Sydney Conservatorium of music
and received the Undergraduate merit scholarship.

Daniel began learning percussion at the J Percussion Music School at the age of 10 in 2017. Over the past 5 years he has participated in various competitions
including the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod, Strike a Chord competition, Asia Pacific Percussion competition, the Quota Beenleigh competition and Marimbafest Australia. In these competitions, he has won many awards both as a soloist and a chamber member. He is active in various percussion ensembles, chamber groups and wind orchestras across across Brisbane. Daniel is currently working towards completing his AMEB AMusA.

Darren is a 13 year old who attends Miller Middle School. He has been playing percussion for his middle school band, and joined the jazz band in 6th grade and All State JHS concert band for percussion in 8th grade. He also has piano experience up to level 7 CM.

Dean has two years of classical percussion experience, and is a seasoned drum kit player. Becoming more and more comfortable in the solo setting Dean loves everything performing. He is grateful for his percussion tutor and Cirque Du Soleil extraordinaire Marcus Perozzi for guiding him through his percussion journey. Dean sees his percussion career unravelling into solo and orchestral performance. He participated in Marimbafest last year as an ensemble participant and is looking forward to performing this year as a solo participant.

IRENE YOONSEO KANG (she/her)

Irene Yoonseo Kang, the winner of 13th Italy Percussion Competition in 2015, is a professional percussionist who made debut with major orchestras in Korea. She was recognized by winning first place in all major domestic competitions in Korea. In 2016, the live performance of Kumho-Young artist's recital was released on KBS Music Room (KBS Classic FM). She also attend to AMFS 2019 as a orchestral performer. Irene recently graduated Curtis Institute of Music. She will study at the Juilliard school as a MM degree student.

Mischa is a year 11 student at Perth Modern School and has been learning percussion since year 5. She studies with Despina Prastides, Marcus Perrozzi and Adam Tan. In addition to being a member of her school’s wind band, orchestra, and percussion ensemble, she regularly participates in Percussion All Stars Concerts at UWA, Kaboom Percussion summer camps, and Marimbafest.

Zac Skelton has been playing percussion for
little over 6 years. His percussion playing began as he taught himself how to play triangle and other auxiliary percussion with community orchestras and bands such as Classic Sounds Orchestra and Armadale City Concert Band.  Now studying percussion at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Zac is very much looking forward to what his degree will teach him, and
where his career will take him.

Elizabeth plays percussion to let go of life, and often you can find them playing through their feelings and working them out. Music has impacted Elizabeth's life so much, and they wish to impact others' lives too.

CHANTEL CHEN (she/her)

Chantel began her percussion journey 12 years ago, since then she has won awards as both a soloist and a chamber musician in national competitions such as Musica Viva’s Strike a Chord chamber music competition, Australian Percussion Eisteddfods and Queensland Percussive Arts Eisteddfods. She has also participated and won internationally, and has been recognised as a semi-finalist for the Southern Californian Marimba Competition. Recently, Chantel has won the prestigious 2022 Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Young Instrumentalist Prize.

Charlotte started her percussion journey in Year 5. Currently in Rossmoyne Senior High School, she is a member of the school’s wind band, symphony orchestra and percussion ensemble. Under the tutelage of Mr Iain Robbie and Mr Adam Tan, she enjoys playing the marimba and looks forward to participating in more concerts and competitions.

David is a fifteen-year-old
percussionist and 10th grader who currently studies at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, California. David is also a First-year percussionist at the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. Besides playing music, David also loves fishing.

Declan has been playing percussion since year 7 at Trinity under the tutelage of Louis Free-Harvey and Joel Bass. He is currently in second year studying a Bachelor of Music at The University of Western Australia.

HAMISH MACDONALD

Hamish Macdonald has been playing music since the age of 6. Across this time, he has always enjoyed exploring many different styles and genres. Hamish has been intrigued by learning new instruments which has led him to learn piano, guitar, trumpet and percussion, being his primary instrument. Under the tutelage of Jesse Vivante, Hamish has been learning percussion for 5 years at Wesley College in South Perth, and he enjoys percussion for its diverse range of sounds and textures.

At the age of 7, Sarah began learning and playing percussion at J Percussion Music School. She has since participated in various music competitions such as the Beenleigh Quota Eisteddfod, the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod and Musica Viva and have received awards both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. She is currently working towards completing AMEB Grade 7, and is involved in multiple ensembles within her music school. She is the Percussion Leader at her high school where she learns drumkit and plays percussion in 6 ensembles.
